5 Splurge purchases I love and love to share.
Take a sip of coffee and curl up friends, we are sharing the fun things today. As my kids continue on in endless virtual learning, things have definitely taken on a new normal. We spend an insane amount of time at home. We are all total homebodies which is great but we are even going a little nutters. So, I have been thinking for a while about sharing some fun things that have gotten my attention. I’m pretty sure about 70% of the time Amazon drives down my street, its for me. I want to share with you my top five favorite Amazon purchases that got me through with my sanity some what in tact as we continue to slog through these crazy times.
1. Paint By Numbers
Starting way back in April 2020, I started buying paint by numbers. You might have seen some pop up on my Instagram. Well, after the first one, I was hooked and am about done with number five or six. These paintings are not joke. I can spend a solid 40 hours on one painting. I’m super obsessed with making them look like actual masterpieces. This means I can go through a lot of paint and there sometimes (usually) is not enough paint. Every time I have contacted the sellers, they are always willing to send more paint. I honestly wish I could be hired as a quality checker too figure out which paints need more than one little container. No career maybe? I wish. Watching scenes come to life while being cooped up has been fantastic. Who wouldn’t want to nap in this boat or read a book? Link Here
2. Kindle Unlimited
Speaking of reading books, I’m addicted. That is not new to anyone who has known me for five seconds. I would join a readers anonymous but who are we kidding. Those are called book clubs and there is no recovery. A few years ago, I got this membership and haven’t looked back since. This is perhaps one of my most favorite investment. I can read so many different genres and no guilt if I don’t like a book. I have even gotten to know authors through social media which is just so neat. Most authors self publish here and it has been so fun to interact with authors and other fans
3. Facial Patches
Okay, no laughing. Okay, maybe laugh, its fine. One of the things I started really investing in is pampering myself. Frownies has been one of those fun splurges I found surfing Instagram that I really like. My son tells me I look angry all the time because I furrow my brow when I am concentrating. I actually do it pretty much all the time which strains my forehead and gives me headaches. These little patches keep those muscles from furrowing and helps inhibit my forehead tension. It also means, you know, less forehead wrinkles. I mean, I’m in my forties, its a thing. No shame. lol
4. Facial Serum
Seriously, did I mention I’m in my forties? Stress shows up quick as does unhealthy eating. I used to exist off pizza and cereal and go to bed without washing my face. That has all changed and I have totally shed tears (totally have not shed tears, am however totally being over dramatic). For Christmas, my amazing super hot and brilliant husband got me a membership at Massage Envy. He thought I might like a massage once a month for six months. Turns out I’m obsessed with facials. I also love the beautiful kind woman who blesses me with the facials and her beautiful heart and perspective from chickens to Jesus. She said get a facial serum so I did. When I am diligent and wash my face morning and night, put this serum on my face in the morning before my face lotion, the difference is very noticeable. I admit, I’m still working on the discipline of washing my face twice a day (don’t judge or judge whatever, I’m working on it) but I am now very aware that it is in fact the right thing to do and not something beauty magazines say to do.
5. Coloring and Journal Bible
I bought this Bible years ago and lost it. I know. It is probably in a church’s collection lost and found of Bibles that every church has. So sad. Anyway, I bought it again because I love beautiful things, art and the Bible. I also have been blessed with ADHD so coloring during church helps me focus. I can also journal my thoughts which is something I love to do. Staying in my Bible reading and prayer time is very important not only to my relationship with God but my relationship with my family. When the pandemic started and churches were not meeting in person, we started nightly Bible reading. Now, while Dan reads the Bible out loud, I can follow along and doodle at the same time. I have tons of gel pens, stickers and colored pencils. I also like to have my face not totally absorbed in my phone so I try not to revert to a Bible app. I am pretty excited to pass this Bible along to my daughter someday. It will have a part of me in it I know she will love.
That is it! I’m so excited I can share this with you. I’m totally not even getting any thing for sharing any of this. I just know it is one of my favorite parts of friendship is sharing the fun things as much as the deep things. Drop a comment if their is any fun things you have discovered you would like to share.
